AED Use: When to Deliver a Shock for Sudden Cardiac Arrest
A rescuer should use an automated external defibrillator device in the context of suspected sudden cardiac arrest in the following instances of analyzing its rhythm:
1. Shock Advised: AED analyzes heartbeat as shockable rhythm (Ventricular Fibrillation/Ventricular Tachycardia).
2. No Shock Recommended: The AED recognizes a rhythm that does not warrant immediate defibrillation and encourages hands-only CPR.
