AED Shock Delivery: Guidelines & When to Use an Automated Defibrillator
Deliver a shock from the automated external defibrillator (AED) in these cases:- The AED analyzes the heart rhythm and advises you to deliver a shock.
- The heart rhythm is ventricular fibrillation (VF) or ventricular tachycardia (VT) with a pulse.
Never deliver a shock during or immediately after:
- CPR compressions.
- Chest rubbing or other movement of the casualty.
- The AED is analyzing a heart rhythm.
- Anyone touches the or is in contact with the casualty.
