How to Clean CPR Mannequins
CPR, or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, is a procedure you can use to help someone who has sustained a heart attack or cardiac arrest. You help by performing chest compressions. According to the American Heart Association, administering CPR correctly can double or triple a victim's chances of surviving. Trainers use a mannequin to teach CPR techniques. You should clean the mannequin properly after each class to reduce the possibility of contamination.Things You'll Need
- 2 tbsp. liquid dish soap
- Water
- Plastic bucket
- Plastic scrub brush
- Liquid bleach
- Soft towels
Instructions
Disassemble the mannequin as directed by the manufacturer's instructions.
Combine two tbsp. liquid dish soap and one gallon warm water in a plastic bucket.
Dip a plastic scrub brush in the soapy water and scrub each piece of the mannequin.
Soak the mannequin for 10 minutes in a solution of one-fourth cup liquid bleach for every gallon of water.
Rinse the entire mannequin with cool water. Dry the mannequin with soft towels to remove most of the water.
Let the mannequin to dry completely before you reassemble it.
