Texas Plastic Bottle Recycling: A Comprehensive Guide
Water bottles, two-liter soft drink containers, dishwasher detergent bottles, sports drink bottles--there are numerous plastic bottles in use today. And, with all those bottles on the market today, it means more plastic products are finding their way to landfills. But many communities in Texas are making it easier for residents of the Lone Star State to recycle those plastic bottles, whether it be through curbside collection or by making available drop-off centers.
Instructions
Find out if your community offers curbside recycling or has drop-off centers. City websites usually provide recycling information along with the waste pickup guidelines.
Call or search online for your community's recycling guidelines to find out what numbered plastic bottles are accepted. The number, 2 for example, can be found on the bottom of the bottle. Not all plastic bottles are accepted for recycling.
Rinse the bottles. Not all recycling centers and municipalities require it, but it's a safe bet that most do.
