How to Face a Bully Every Day in School
Verbal or physical abuse by a bully at school is not only traumatizing, it can easily escalate if an adult is not informed of the problem before it is too late. Seeing the bully on a daily basis can be problematic and avoiding them is easier said than done due to the aggressive, unpredictable behavior of most bullies. A major factor in the bully's behavior is the need to exert dominance over you, which is often due to his or her own insecurities. While confidence is a key to diffusing potentially violent situations, an adult must intervene to prevent harm to you and others, according to KidsHealth.org.
Instructions
Speak to a teacher or principal. Bullying is often not tolerated in many elementary and high schools, but an authority figure has to become aware of the situation in order to address it.
Avoid confrontation. Don't attempt to physically fight back, as this can easily provoke the bully to respond violently and jeopardize your safety.
Stay in groups. Bullies tend to attack when you're by yourself. By staying in a group the bully is less likely to attempt to confront you, according to KidHealth.org.
Ignore taunts and threats. Verbal abuse is often the bully's attempt to chip away at your self-esteem. By ignoring the bully you can take away some of his power.
