Instructions
Preparation
Write a list containing general ideas of how you would like to spend your day. Do this a day or two in advance. Remember, this is supposed to be a relaxing, enjoyable day; you're not writing an itinerary. Simply give yourself a general sense of the day.
Gather together all essential items. Do this at least the night before so you have time to purchase anything you may wish to add or might be lacking.
Put special things in place. Before turning in for the night, a good way to further reduce stress is to put things in order, such as bath oils, books and candles.
Call family and friends to confirm that they know you are not to be disturbed unless there's an emergency. Confirm any arrangements you made for your children for the day.
Time to Relax
Stretch your body. Upon rising, welcome your day of pampering and leisure by stretching your muscles. Stretching increases blood flow to your muscles, thus supplying the energy you need to start your day off on the right foot.
Make coffee or tea and prepare your favorite breakfast. While enjoying the solitude of your "me" morning meal, read the paper, listen to relaxing music, watch the news -- whatever makes you feel comfortable, relaxed and stress free.
Prepare a relaxing bath with oils or take a soothing shower. Delight your senses by using fragrant and refreshing products to cleanse and invigorate you body. Set the mood with scented candles and music, if you wish.
Take a walk or bicycle ride, if weather permits, or simply step outside for some fresh air. Any form of physical activity helps reduce stress and increases the body's metabolism.
Spend the day indulging your every desire. Read a book, write in a journal, watch a movie -- do something for yourself that you wouldn't normally have time to do or have been putting off for a long time. The sky is the limit. There are no rules. This is your "me time" day.
