Preexisting Psychosis: Understanding the Connection & Risks
Preexisting psychosis is a condition in which an individual has experienced psychotic symptoms prior to being exposed to cannabis. Psychotic symptoms may include hallucinations, delusions, disorganized speech and thought, decreased motivation, social withdrawal, impaired cognitive functioning, and impaired self-care. Cannabis is a psychoactive drug and its use can aggravate underlying psychiatric conditions like preexisting psychosis.
