Schizophrenia: Understanding the Causes & Nature of the Disorder

Schizophrenia is considered to be a mental illness with a strong genetic component, but it is not classified as an organic mental disorder. Organic mental disorders are those caused by a direct physiological dysfunction or damage to the brain, such as a physical injury, infection, or substance abuse.
