Understanding Brain MRI Scans for Tumor Detection: A Comprehensive Guide

Magnetic resonance imaging is a powerful tool for investigating the body's internal structure. This technique uses radio frequency pulses of a magnetic field to examine different organs and systems. The resulting information can be viewed as images on the computer. Abnormal tissue growths, called neoplasms, in the brain can be viewed in a more exact manner through MRI.

  Get an MRI done in a reputable medical center that offers up MRI image views from all aspects such as sagittal, axial and coronal.

  View the MRI images of the brain on an illuminated screen. Masses of cells or tumors will be illuminated in blue or red.

  View the axial image of the brain. A tumor can be seen in the form of a circumscribed, glowing lesion (usually found bilaterally). The larger the illuminated portion, the larger the tumor.
