How to Get Certified to Use an Epipen
An Epipen is a medical device used to inject epinephrine into a person experiencing anaphylactic shock. Epipens are administered by healthcare professionals, the family and friends of the victim or even the victims of anaphylactic shock themselves. A certification isn't required to use an Epipen unless you're administering Epipens in a school. However, a certification is a good way to familiarize users with the proper use of the pen and care for the patient.
Instructions
Check with your institution to find out what kind of certification needs to be completed. For example, California educators are required to be trained annually by a school nurse or other health professional. A workshop or seminar is required to familiarize the administrators with the relevant information. However, there are many health practices or jobs that require a minimal, online certification.
Find out if your institution offers training classes. If the training is a requirement, then chances are there is a class or seminar offered.
Visit an online source that offers Epipen certification such as the American CPR Care Association or Red Cross. Both of these organization's websites offer online certifications. Red Cross also keep an up-to-date list of certification classes happening across the country.
Register for an online or class course, pay fees and complete the training.
