RN Education Requirements: How Long Does It Take to Become a Registered Nurse?

It typically takes two to three years of postsecondary education to become a registered nurse (RN). Some nursing programs are offered at community colleges, while others are offered at four-year colleges and universities. After completing a nursing program, students must pass the NCLEX-RN exam in order to become licensed as an RN.
