How to Check the Status of Medicare Part B Claims
Medicare Part B is a type of medical insurance that covers doctors̵7; services and outpatient care. Medicare Part B also covers some of the medical services not covered by Part A, including physical therapy. You have a few options when filing a claim for Medicare Part B, all of which are easy and require only a small amount of legwork. Instructions
Call the treating physician, hospital or supplier. Provide the billing department at the physician̵7;s office with the name of the treating physician, date of service and type of treatment.
Contact a Medicare Part B representative at (800) 633-4227. Provide the claim specialist with the claim number. If you do not know the claim number, the claim specialist can locate the claim using your Social Security number.
File an appeal or grievance if you believe your claim has been improperly denied. Go to cms.hhs.gov/MMCAG to download an appeal form. Download the Medicare Redetermination Request Form (CMS-20027) if you don't agree with the initial claim decision by Medicare. Medicare will review your claim and notify you of its decision in writing.
