CLIA Code Lookup: Verify Laboratory Credentials & Compliance
All laboratory testing performed on humans in the United States, except for research, is regulated by the Centers for Medicare &Medicaid Services, using Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), which covers about 200,000 laboratories. CLIA is designed to make sure laboratories perform quality testing. If you have a question about a particular laboratory's CLIA code, or if you want to make sure a CLIA code has the correct format, you can easily check it by looking in an online database.
Instructions
Go to the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) Codes Lookup website.
Type the CLIA code into the search box.
Click on "Search." The results of your CLIA search will appear, with information about the laboratory's type and location.
