Why might poor handling or administration of medicines lead to clients being abused neglected?
There are several ways in which poor handling or administration of medicines can lead to clients being abused or neglected. some reasons include:
* Clients may not receive the medication they need at the correct dose of frequency. This can lead to their health deteriorating, which can them make them vulnerable to abuse or neglect.
* Clients may be given medication without explanation or understanding. This can lead them feeling powerless ,dependent and vulnerable to manipulation or exploitation.
* Medication can be withheld from them as a form of punishment or abuse. This can severely compromise their health and well being.
* They may be given incorrect medication or medication that are not meant for them. This can have serious implications on their health and can make them more vulnerable to abuse or neglect.
* Poor handling of medication can cause an unsafe medical environment. This can increase the risk of infection and other complications, which can lead to additional health issues and heightened vulnerability to abuse or neglect.
In any of these situation clients who are already in vulnerable situations may become further isolated, making it less likely that they will be able to access help or disclose the abuse or neglect they are experiencing.
