Temporary Hair Dye with Food Coloring: A Simple DIY Guide
Are you interested in dyeing your hair for a party or special function, but don't want to permanently have it colored that way? Maybe you are a free spirit and like to change your hair color frequently or maybe you don't know what color to pick and would like to try a variety of different colors. Well, you can easily dye your hair any color you like temporarily with food coloring. The dyeing process is simple, and when you are done with having your hair colored that way, simply wash several times with lemon juice to gently and safely remove the coloring.Things You'll Need
- Empty shampoo bottle
- Food coloring of your choice
- Your typical shampoo
- Gloves
- Sink or shower nearby
Instructions
Add a full bottle (1 oz.) of food coloring to the empty shampoo bottle. Pour about a quarter to half a bottle of shampoo in the bottle as well.
Shake the bottle well and add about a teaspoon of water to help mix the contents. Completely cover your wet hair with the shampoo paste. Gently scrub and massage the paste into your hair. Allow the mixture to dry for 30 minutes for light hair and 60 to 90 minutes for darker hair.
Rinse the mixture out with lukewarm water and allow to air dry. To ensure the tint and life of your new do, you should try to wash your hair as few times as possible until you decide to take the dye out with lemon juice.
