What is prolonged qt?
Prolonged QT syndrome is a condition that can lead to a fast, chaotic heart rate (ventricular fibrillation) that can cause fainting (syncope) or even sudden cardiac death.
Symptoms
Prolonged QT syndrome usually doesn't cause any signs or symptoms. However, in some people with prolonged QT syndrome who experience problems, warning symptoms might include:
* Fainting (syncope)
* Seizures
* Dizziness or lightheadedness
* Rapid heart rate
* Chest pain
When to see a doctor
See your doctor immediately if you have any signs or symptoms of prolonged QT syndrome, especially if you have a family history of the condition or if you're taking any medications that can cause prolonged QT syndrome.
