Optimize Hospital Patient Flow with Technology: A Comprehensive Guide
Patient flow management can be categorized by differentiating between in- and out-patient flows. Out-patients are usually at the hospital for a shorter period of time. In-patients typically spend at least one night at the hospital. Health care costs can be calculated effectively if the hospital implements an accurate tracking mechanism for patient flow through the hospital. Hospitals have traditionally kept paper records that log patient stays; however, with the development of technology, most institutions are migrating to computerized patient databases.
