Informed consent. Informed consent is a legal doctrine in which an individual voluntarily agrees to a medical treatment or procedure after receiving complete and accurate information about the risks, benefits, and alternatives of the treatment or procedure. In the case of walking into a hospital, the individual can be presumed to have given their implied consent to receive treatment, as they have voluntarily entered a healthcare facility for the purpose of seeking medical attention.
