Cardiology Hospitals in the US: A Comprehensive Overview
There are over 6,000 hospitals in the United States, and most of them have at least a small cardiology department. However, there are only a few hundred hospitals that have large, comprehensive cardiology departments that offer a full range of services, such as cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and heart failure management.According to the American College of Cardiology, there are 1,400 hospitals in the United States that have accredited cardiology departments. Of these, 650 are teaching hospitals, which means they are affiliated with a medical school and offer training programs for cardiology fellows.
The number of hospitals with cardiology departments has been growing steadily in recent years, as the population ages and more people develop heart disease. This growth is expected to continue, as the incidence of heart disease is projected to increase by 20% over the next 15 years.
