Black Physicians in the U.S.: Statistics & Representation
As of 2020, there were approximately 19,000 black doctors in the United States, according to data from the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). This represents about 5.5% of all doctors in the country. The number of black doctors has been increasing in recent years, but there is still a significant underrepresentation of black doctors in the medical field. Black doctors are more likely to serve in underserved communities and provide care to patients of color.Hospitals - Related Articles
