What is a kindred hospital?

A hospital that focuses on rehabilitative care. Often, patients of a kindred hospital were previously at an "acute" hospital for life threatening emergencies and come to a kindred hospital for further long term care, physical therapy and other specialized treatments necessary for re-integrating back into society.
