Foley Catheter Drainage Bag Connection: A Step-by-Step Guide
A Foley catheter is used to drain urine from the bladder. It is commonly used after surgeries as well as for patients dealing with certain medical conditions or procedures. This device is made of a thin tube directed into the bladder by a doctor. The end of the catheter empties into a drainage bag usually secured to the side of the patient's leg. Disconnecting the bag is necessary to empty the urine. Special care should be taken when reconnecting the drainage bag, to avoid causing infections of the bladder or body.Things You'll Need
