Dosimeter Reset: A Comprehensive Guide for Accurate Readings
A dosimeter measures an individual's exposure to something within the environment. There are numerous varieties of dosimeters. The most familiar provides a measuring tool to detect radiation exposure for lab and x-ray technicians. Other possible models monitor sound, ultraviolet light and electromagnetic charges. Resetting the dosage scale back to zero between uses will give you an accurate reading every time you use a dosimeter. You should refer to the user's guide for your model for detailed instructions.
Instructions
Pen Models
Plug the unit into the charger.
Look into the eyepiece.
Turn the charger knob until the indicator reads zero. When the dosimeter connects to the charger, a high voltage charge fills the tube, resetting the meter.
Desktop or Battery Pocket Units
Locate the manual reset button on the face of the unit.
Press the reset button.
Hold the reset button for three seconds to reset the unit.
Check the display and verify the setting is zero.
