Colorado Health Insurance License: Requirements & Exam Prep
To sell health insurance in Colorado, you must first obtain an Accident and Health license from the Colorado Division of Insurance (CDI). To get a license, you must be at least 18 years old, a resident of Colorado and pass the Accident and Health licensing examination. The CDI has contracted a private company, Pearson VUE, to administer the examination process.
Instructions
Take a pre-licensing education course from an approved vendor. The Pearson VUE website has a list of approved vendors.
Register to take the Accident and Health licensing examination by submitting a registration form online from the Pearson VUE website or by calling 800-274-2616. Pay the examination fee, which is $73 as of October 2010, by credit card, debit card or electronic check.
Go to your assigned testing site and pass the examination by obtaining a score of at least 70 percent. Your will receive your results immediately upon the completion of the test.
Submit your application electronically to the CDI. The CDI uses a vendor, Sircon Licensing, for the submission of applications. You can find a link to the online application on the CDI website. Pay the license fee, which is $71 as of October 2010, by credit or debit card.
Print your license from the Sircon website. The CDI no longer mails paper licenses to agents and brokers.
