How to Check on Medicare Benefits Using a Confirmation Number
Medicare insurance is a federally funded insurance plan available for qualifying individuals. If you met the requirements and applied for Medicare, you may be anxious to learn the status of your application. But you don't have to sit around and not know the state of your Medicare benefits. The Social Security Administration has ways for you to check the status of your Medicare benefits using the confirmation number you received when applying.
Instructions
Online
Go to the Social Security Application Status Information website. Type in your Social Security Number. Type in the confirmation number that was given to you when you applied for Medicare.
Click on the "Next" button. Wait while your information in processed and the status is supplied. The website says that this can takes up to a minute to complete. You will get information on your application and personalized information about your benefits, including your Medicare policy number.
Go to mymedicare.gov. Create an account, if you don't already have one, by using your Medicare policy number. Log into your account using the login details you selected when you registered. Your Medicare benefit details will be displayed once you have successfully logged in.
In Person
Visit your local Social Security Administration office.
Take a number and wait for it to be called to speak to a representative. Go to the window of the available representative when your number is called. You could have a long wait time depending on how many people are in front of you.
Give the representative your Social Security Number and the confirmation number that was supplied to you when you applied for Medicare. The representative will enter the information into his computer and give you information about your Medicare benefits.
