How to Find If a Physician Is in Good Standing
It is relatively simple to determine if a physician is in good standing. The Federation of State Medical Boards maintains a database of all practicing physicians and tracks their history of disciplinary actions, education, training, licensure history, medical specialty and location information. Access to this information is available online; for a small fee, anyone can receive a profile report on a physician, either delivered by postal mail or sent electronically to a valid email address.Things You'll Need

- Printer, if you wish to print the request form and mail it
- VISA, MasterCard, cashier's check or money order in the amount of $9.95 per physician name requested
- Valid email address, if you prefer an instant, electronic report
Instructions
Determining Physician's Standing
Point your web browser to http://www.docinfo.org.
Locate the green "Order Options" box on the lower left-hand side of the web page.
Decide if you want an instant, electronic report delivered to your email address or a printed report mailed to your home address.
Ordering Electronic Report
Click "Immediate Results" in the "Order Options" box on http://www.docinfo.org.
Complete the online form with the physician's first and last names, city, state and ZIP code, and click SEARCH.
Click the ADD TO CART link that appears next to the name of the physician about whom you wish information. Then click CHECK OUT.
Review and accept the terms and conditions of the search by clicking the appropriate box and then click CHECK OUT.
Review order summary and click CHECK OUT. Enter payment information and email address. Click PROCESS PAYMENT AND RETRIEVE REPORT.
Ordering Mailed Report
Click "Mail in Request" in the "Order Options" box on http://www.docinfo.org.
Click the underlined link to download the FSMB Physician Profile Request form, located on the lower left-hand side of the page. Print the form.
Complete the form with physician's name, address, city and ZIP code and the address where you would like to receive the printed report.
Attach to the request form a cashier's check or money order made payable to Federation of State Medical Boards for $9.95.
Use appropriate postage to mail form and check to Federation of State Medical Boards, ATTN: Physician Profiles, P.O. Box 972507, Dallas, Texas 75397-2507. Allow five to seven business days for processing.
