Registering Telemetry Frequencies: A Guide for Medical Facilities
Wireless Medical Telemetry Systems (WMTS) are the technological pathways from your vital signs to your medical caregiver. Devices measuring pulse, respiration and heart rates all use WMTS. Given their importance, medical facilities must register the radio frequencies at which that data is transmitted and received. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), America's federal broadcast regulator, requires WMTS registration by law. Most importantly, this is to ensure that transmissions are not impaired by electrical interference, such as you might experience with your car radio in certain geographic areas. This is to ensure that the signals arrive at their destinations unimpeded.
Instructions
Log into WMTS Search (wmtssearch.com).
Click on "Add A New WMTS Deployment" button from the Main Menu.
Click on "Facility Finder" button and select your facility from the pop-up window.
Fill in the remaining fields using the WMTS Deployment Form and Definitions guide. You may need to find your latitude and longitude using Comsearch.
