Sterile Table Passing Technique: A Guide for Scrub Nurses
When passing a sterile table, the scrub nurse should:
Stand at the side of the table closest to the surgeon.
Hold the sterile drape in both hands, with the drape folded in half so that the sterile side is facing up.
Extend the drape over the table, allowing it to drape over the sides.
Grasp the edges of the drape and lift it up, away from the table.
Pivot the drape so that the sterile side is facing the surgeon.
Release the drape so that it falls onto the table, covering the entire surface.
Step back from the table and allow the surgeon to take the sterile instruments from the table.
