What was the Bush Hill Hospital?

Bush Hill Hospital was originally built as the North Middlesex Union Workhouse and, like such buildings of the 17th and 18th centuries, it functioned not just to take in paupers; orphans, abandoned and deserted wives and children and the disabled could be taken in there.
