Why major auto manufacturers do not build ambulances?
There are a few reasons why major auto manufacturers do not build ambulances.
Cost would be a major factor in the production line set up and development of ambulances. There is not enough demand for ambulances to justify the cost of setting up a production line.
Additionally, ambulances require a lot of specialized equipment, such as medical supplies and stretchers, which would need to be installed by a third party. This would add to the cost of the vehicle and make it more difficult for auto manufacturers to compete with dedicated ambulance companies.
Finally, ambulances are often used in emergency situations, so they need to be able to withstand a lot of wear and tear. This would require auto manufacturers to use more durable materials and construction methods, which would add to the cost of the vehicle.
For these reasons, it makes more sense for auto manufacturers to focus on producing cars and trucks that can be easily converted into ambulances by third-party companies.
