Where can you get dialysis technician certification?
* American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP): The AAKP offers certification for dialysis technicians through its Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC). The NNCT offers two levels of certification: Certified Dialysis Technician (CDT) and Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT). To be eligible for the CDT exam, candidates must have at least 2,000 hours of experience working in a dialysis unit. To be eligible for the CCHT exam, candidates must have at least 4,000 hours of experience working in a dialysis unit and must have passed the CDT exam.* National Nephrology Certification Board (NNCB): The NNCB offers certification for dialysis technicians through its Dialysis Technician Certification Board (DTCB). The DTC offers three levels of certification: Certified Dialysis Technician (CDT), Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT), and Certified Peritoneal Dialysis Technician (CPDT). To be eligible for the CDT exam, candidates must have at least 1,500 hours of experience working in a dialysis unit. To be eligible for the CCHT exam, candidates must have at least 2,500 hours of experience working in a dialysis unit and must have passed the CDT exam. To be eligible for the CPDT exam, candidates must have at least 1,500 hours of experience working in a peritoneal dialysis unit.
