Cutting Vivelle Patches: A Guide to Dosage Adjustment
Vivelle is a patch applied to the skin which supplies estrogen to women going through menopause. While the Vivelle patch comes in different dosages, from 0.39 mg to 1.56 mg per patch, sometimes a dosage is too high for an individual. In order to lessen your dosage of Vivelle, you can cut the patch in half. Be sure to talk to your health care professional about your dosage before you cut your Vivelle patch in half.Things You'll Need
- Scissors
Instructions
Remove your Vivelle patch from the box but do not remove it from the protective package.
Fold the Vivelle patch into halves or even into thirds, depending on how much your health care professional advises you to cut down on your dosage.
Cut the Vivelle patch along the fold. Remove the part of the patch you will use and place it on a clean patch of skin. Keep the rest of the patch in the packaging.
Wash your scissors with soap and water after you cut the patch to remove any estrogen from them.
