Climara vs. Climara Pro: Understanding Menopause Relief & Estrogen Therapy

Climara and Climara Pro provide relief for women going through menopause. A doctor may also prescribe them for osteoporosis prevention or for nonmenopausal women who have problems producing estrogen. The type of menopause you experience determines which version of Climara to take.

Types

Ingredients

• Climara's active ingredient is estradiol, or estrogen. Climara Pro contains levonorgestrel in addition to estradiol. Levonorgestrel is a progestin -- a synthetic progestogen hormone.

Warning

• Climara Pro is not for women who have undergone a hysterectomy. Because both patches contain estradiol, using them can increase your risk of uterine cancer, breast cancer, heart attack and stroke. Climara Pro can increase your risk of dementia because of its combination of estrogen and progestin.
