Ovulation: Understanding the Release of the Egg
A woman's egg is called an ovum. It is released from one of the ovaries during ovulation, which usually happens once a month. The ovum travels down the fallopian tube, where it can be fertilized by a sperm cell. If the ovum is not fertilized, it will be absorbed by the body.
