Introducing Liver to Babies: Age Guidelines & Safety
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends introducing liver to infants between 6 and 12 months of age. However, it's important to note that liver is a rich source of vitamin A, and excessive consumption can lead to vitamin A toxicity in infants and young children.
Therefore, it's advisable to limit liver consumption to once a week for children under 3 years of age. Additionally, liver should be cooked thoroughly before serving to a child to reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses.
