When Does Puberty Start for Girls? Age Ranges & Factors
There is no single age at which all girls hit puberty. However, most girls begin puberty between the ages of 8 and 14. Some girls may start as early as 7 years old, while others may not start until they are 15 or 16. The average age for girls in the United States to begin puberty is about 12 years old.
There are a number of factors that can influence the age at which a girl hits puberty. These include genetics, nutrition, and overall health. Girls who are overweight or obese are more likely to start puberty earlier than girls who are of a healthy weight. Girls who are underweight or who have certain medical conditions may start puberty later than average.
Puberty is a normal process that all girls go through. It is important to be supportive and understanding during this time. If you have any concerns about your daughter's puberty, talk to her doctor.
