DIY Walker Wheels: Easily Attach Tennis Balls for Easier Mobility
Many people use tennis balls as "feet" for their walkers because the tennis balls help them scoot across most surfaces without having to lift the walker. Tennis balls are especially good for use on tile or wood surfaces, while they are not as effective on carpet. Tennis balls also can wear out quickly when used outdoors. If you want to put tennis balls on a walker you can complete the process in just a few minutes.Things You'll Need
- Two or four tennis balls
- Knife
Instructions
Decide whether you want to put tennis balls on all four legs or just two. Two balls placed on the front will allow the walker to slide, but do not keep the back legs from possibly scratching a floor. On the other hand, four tennis balls may provide less stability than if you leave two of the original feet in place.
Cut an "X" pattern into each of the tennis balls.
Place the balls on each of the legs. If the "X" is not large enough, use the knife to lengthen the slits until the balls fit onto the legs.
