A Day in the Life of a Pediatric Nurse: Responsibilities & Schedule
7:00 AM- Arrive at work and get report from the night shift nurse.
- Check each patient's vital signs and report any abnormalities to the physician.
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
- Monitor patients for signs of deterioration.
- Provide patient education and support.
- Document all nursing care provided.
8:00 AM
- Attend rounds with the physician and other members of the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to develop a plan of care for each patient.
- Participate in patient care conferences and meetings.
12:00 PM
- Take a lunch break.
1:00 PM
- Continue to monitor patients and provide nursing care.
- Collaborate with the child life specialist to provide play and activities for hospitalized children.
4:00 PM
- Provide report to the night shift nurse.
- Complete all documentation.
5:00 PM
Leave work.
