Pediatrician Requirements: Education, Licenses & Certifications

Credentials:

* Medical degree (e.g., M.D. or D.O.)

* Pediatric residency training

* Board certification in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) or the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics (AOBP)

Licenses:

* A state medical license

Some states may also require pediatricians to have a child abuse recognition and reporting certificate.
