How to Calculate Height in Meters
Height is determined by measuring the distance from the bottom of someone's feet to the top of her head while she is standing. In the United States, this distance is generally measured in inches and feet. For most other places in the world, however, human height is measured in meters.
Instructions
Measure from the bottom of someone's heels to the top of her head while she is standing straight up. This can be done in several ways. The easiest way is by having someone stand against a wall and, with a pencil, mark the top of his head. Take measuring tape and stretch it from the mark to the floor.
Write down the number of inches from the top of a person's head to the back of his heel.
Multiply a person's height in inches by 0.0254 meters. For example, if the person were 66 inches tall, his height could be converted to 1.68 meters.
