How to Clean Toys With a Clorox Bleach Solution
Children's toys need to be cleaned periodically to remove germs. Clorox bleach will effectively kill the germs and sanitize the toys when you clean them with a solution diluted with water. When your children are sick, cleaning their toys is a priority to prevent spreading the germs. In order to clean your children's toys properly, you must determine which ones are safe to sanitize with the Clorox solution.Things You'll Need
- Clorox
- Spray bottle
- Pillowcase
- Hair dryer
Instructions
Soak the Toys in a Bleach Solution
Select the washable toys. Avoid soaking toys that are porous, stuffed or those with holes that will allow mold to grow.
Soak the toys in Clorox bleach solution. Combine ¾ cup of bleach for each gallon of water.
Allow the toys to soak for 5 minutes. Rinse the toys with water and allow them to air dry.
Spray the toys with a Bleach Solution
Fill a spray bottle with ¼ cup of Clorox bleach.
Add water to the bottle to fill it completely.
Place the toys out and spray with the solution.
Allow the toys to sit for 30 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly.
Allow them to air dry completely. You can also dry them off with a clean lint-free towel.
Clean the Toys in the Washing Machine
Place machine washable toys in the washing machine. Check the toys for electronic devices because these will need to be removed to prevent damaging the toys and your washing machine.
Place the toys inside a tied pillowcase to keep them from ruining clothes.
Mix ¾ cup of Clorox bleach with a quart of water.
Add the solution to the machine after it runs for 5 minutes.
Check the tags to see if the toys are dryer safe. Set them out to air dry them in the sun, or dry them off with a hair dryer. Allowing the wet toys to sit out may cause them to mold or smell sour.
