Child's Vaginal Irritation: Causes, Symptoms & Home Remedies
Vaginitis, or an infection or inflammation of the vagina, commonly affects female children from the ages of 3 to 10. Vaginal irritations can typically be successfully treated at home.-
Causes

According to the University of Colorado's Children's Hospital, soaps such as body wash, bubble bath and shampoo sometimes cause vaginal irritation in children.

A vaginal irritation may cause itching and burning in the vaginal area.
Baking Soda Treatment

Put 2 oz. of baking soda in bathtub water. Allow the child to soak in the baking soda solution for 20 minutes and repeat 4 times each day over the course of 2 days.
Hydrocortisone Treatment

After each baking soda session, apply 1 percent hydrocortisone to the vaginal area.
Warning

Consult a physician if the child experiences vaginal bleeding, vaginal discharge, fever or the irritation persists for more than two days after administering treatment.
