Understanding Infant Erections: Causes & When to Worry
There are two main causes of infant erections:
* Neurological reflexes: During the first few months of life, the nerves in a baby's body are still developing. This can cause occasional erections, which are often accompanied by other reflexes, such as sneezing or yawning.
* Physical stimulation: An infant's penis can be stimulated by anything that comes into contact with it, such as clothing, diapers, or a parent's hand. This stimulation can cause an erection.
Infant erections are usually harmless and do not require treatment. However, if they are causing your baby any discomfort, you can talk to your doctor.
