Ampicillin Dosage for Newborns: Guidelines & Information
50 mg/kg/day
Ampicilin is a broad spectrum antibiotic used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is given intravenously or intramuscularly, and the dosage for a newborn infant is typically 50 mg/kg/day given in 3 divided doses every 8 hours. In severe infections, the dose may be increased to 100 mg/kg/day.
