Mumps Immunization Testing: Available Tests & What They Detect
Serology tests:
Serology tests measure the levels of antibodies against mumps virus in the blood. These tests can be used to determine if a person is immune to mumps or if they have been infected with the virus in the past.
Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test:
The PCR test can detect the presence of mumps virus RNA in a person's blood or saliva. This test can be used to diagnose a current mumps infection.
