Shaken Baby Syndrome: Understanding Retinal Hemorrhage & Serious Injuries
Shaken baby syndrome is a form of abusive head trauma that can lead to serious injuries, including bleeding behind the eye (retinal hemorrhage). When a baby is shaken vigorously, the brain and other soft tissues in the head can slam against the skull, causing damage. This can result in bleeding behind the eye, as well as other symptoms such as brain swelling, seizures, and coma. Retinal hemorrhages are often a sign of shaken baby syndrome and may be accompanied by other symptoms such as bruising, swelling, and changes in behavior. If you suspect a baby has been shaken, seek medical attention immediately.Baby Health - Related Articles
