Volumetrics Diet: Lose Weight Eating Large Portions
Volumetrics is a diet based around the idea that it is too difficult to deprive the body of food. You can have large portions of foods, but you need to eat the right types of foods in order to lose weight.
Instructions
Use the energy dense rating method to find out what foods you are allowed to eat. Energy density is the amount of calories found in a specified amount of food. Low density foods are ideal and include fruits, vegetables and non-fat dairy items. High density foods are candies, fried foods and chips.
Fill up on foods with a high water content. Healthy foods, like fruits and vegetables, will fill you up because they are made up of mostly water.
Cut out oil and butter from your diet. Within the Volumetrics book, the creator and nutritionist, Barbara Rolls, provides recipes that eliminate the butter and oil found in traditional recipes.
Eat healthy fats taken from sources like fish and nuts.
Allow yourself a small amount of sweets and foods that are high in fat. Total deprivation can lead you to abandoning the diet completely.
Keep a record of your Volumetrics diet. Rolls states that keeping track of the food you eat and your exercise activity is an essential part of succeeding at the diet.
