Treadmill Care: Extend the Life of Your Exercise Equipment
Owning your own personal exercise equipment can be quite an investment initially. Treadmills require just a few minutes of your time after use to ensure long life for your machine.Things You'll Need
- Towel
- Duster
- Treadmill mat
Instructions
Wipe down your treadmill after each use. This means taking a towel and wiping sweat off the hand grips and controls that you touched while using it.
Dust your treadmill as often as dust accumulates.
Place a mat under your treadmill to protect the motor from static charge built up by the treadmill itself and dust that could get trapped in the motor and ruin it.
Check the power cord to make sure that it is not in the way of the incline mechanism on the treadmill. If the cord gets trapped in the incline levers, the insulation could get worn, a possible safety risk.
Read the instructions to see if the treadmill requires lubrication. Don't lubricate if your treadmill does not require it, as that could destroy the belt.
