Acai Berry Colon Cleanses: Risks, Side Effects & Weight Loss Claims
The acai berry cleanse diet has several variations. According to Science Daily, some people do lose water weight, but the acai berry colon cleanses are not an effective tool for permanent weight loss and do have a few uncomfortable side effects.-
Weight Loss
-
There is no research to support that the acai berry helps with permanent weight loss, but when on the cleanse you can lose weight as a side effect. A cleanse expells all built up of waste so, by default, the acai cleanse makes you lose weight in the short term.
Nausea and Headaches
-
Acaiberrycleanse.com warns that nausea and headaches can occur if your body becomes dehydrated. Nausea can cause you to become dizzy, have stomach cramps and lead to vomiting.
Vomiting and Diarrhea
-
The acai berry cleanse will rid your body of toxins and excess waste. It achieves this by clearing out the bowels and colon. Science Daily says that taking acai supplements will cause mild to severe diarrhea and vomiting. To avoid dehydration, drink plenty of water while on the cleanse. Dehydration will lead to an imbalance of electrolytes in the body.
