Diet Soda for Weight Loss: Benefits & How-To
Regular soda contains large amounts of sugar and many calories. Switching from regular soda to diet soda can have a beneficial impact because the diet versions of these drinks do not contain any sugar or calories. You can lose weight by switching to diet soda and following a healthy nutrition and exercise plan.
Instructions
Consult your doctor. Your doctor can provide helpful feedback and steer you in the direction of a nutrition and exercise program that is right for you.
Begin the switch from regular to diet soda. Decide how long you would like to take to complete this process. If you are an everyday soda drinker, a time frame of several weeks may be more realistic than several days.
Drink a mixture of three quarters regular soda and one quarter diet soda throughout the first week. Cut this week down to only several days if desired. Implement your diet and exercise plan.
Combine equal parts of regular and diet soda during the second week, or the next several days.
Consume a three quarter diet soda, one quarter regular soda mixture during the third week or stage of your transition. Maintain your nutrition and exercise plan.
Finish your transition by drinking only diet soda after the third week. If you normally drink two cans of regular soda a day, you are saving roughly 1,750 calories a week.
